How to play the Inverted Flam Tap

Flam taps with the flams flipped onto the off-hand — a real independence builder.

About the Inverted Flam Tap

The Inverted Flam Tap is one of the 40 PAS rudiments, in the Flam family. Flam rudiments add a soft grace note struck just before the main note for a fatter accent.

How to practice it

Start slow enough to play it perfectly evenly, counting out loud or with the metronome. Keep your strokes relaxed and your accents clear. Once it's clean, raise the tempo a few BPM at a time using the speed trainer — clean and slow always beats fast and sloppy.

The Inverted Flam Tap is one of the advanced rudiments included with Drumolo Pro, alongside notation scoring and every time signature. Start with the free trainer to build the basics first.
