How to play the Triple Paradiddle

Three pairs of singles then a diddle — extends the paradiddle idea.

About the Triple Paradiddle

The Triple Paradiddle is one of the 40 PAS rudiments, in the Diddle family. Diddle rudiments — paradiddles and their relatives — weave singles and doubles together.

How to practice it

Start slow enough to play it perfectly evenly, counting out loud or with the metronome. Keep your strokes relaxed and your accents clear. Once it's clean, raise the tempo a few BPM at a time using the speed trainer — clean and slow always beats fast and sloppy.

The Triple Paradiddle is part of Drumolo's free trainer. Open it, choose this rudiment, set a slow tempo and let the metronome grade your timing.
