How to play the Flamacue

Flam, then an accent on the second 16th, resolving to a flam. The accent is the trick.

About the Flamacue

The Flamacue is one of the 40 PAS rudiments, in the Flam family. Flam rudiments add a soft grace note struck just before the main note for a fatter accent.

How to practice it

Start slow enough to play it perfectly evenly, counting out loud or with the metronome. Keep your strokes relaxed and your accents clear. Once it's clean, raise the tempo a few BPM at a time using the speed trainer — clean and slow always beats fast and sloppy.

The Flamacue is part of Drumolo's free trainer. Open it, choose this rudiment, set a slow tempo and let the metronome grade your timing.
